Jamaican singer, songwriter and producer (1938–2016), a founding father of ska. Flipping the American R&B shuffle to stress the offbeat, his 1960s records — 'Al Capone', 'One Step Beyond', 'Madness' — shaped Jamaican music and became the bedrock of the British 2 Tone movement.
