Italy, 1711–1764
Italian violinist and composer (1695-1764) who settled in Amsterdam. L'arte del violino (1733) ends each concerto with a capriccio of deliberately impossible difficulty — the first music written to be harder than anyone could play, and the direct ancestor of Paganini's Caprices.
