Heinrich Scheidemann

German organist (c. 1595-1663) at the Katharinenkirche in Hamburg, sent to Amsterdam as a young man to study with Sweelinck. His chorale fantasias made the north German organ a dramatic instrument and set the style his pupil Reincken carried on.
