Haruomi Hosono

Japanese musician and producer (b. 1947), the quiet architect of modern Japanese pop. He shaped folk-rock with Happy End, invented a playful synthetic exotica on his 1970s solo albums, and founded Yellow Magic Orchestra, then spent decades exploring ambient and environmental music.
