Dayton, Ohio band led by prolific songwriter Robert Pollard. Recording hundreds of short, hooky songs on four-track cassette — 'we always wanted to be The Beatles on record and The Who live' — their ramshackle Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes made them heroes of 1990s American lo-fi.
