Québécoise singer and actress (b. 1946), one of the towering voices of French-Canadian song. Her powerful, emotive chanson québécoise ballads ('Je ne suis qu'une chanson', 'Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin') made her a national institution and an idol to a young Céline Dion.
