Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff — the songwriting and production duo behind Philadelphia International Records and 'The Sound of Philadelphia'. Modelling their operation on Motown, their lush, string-swept soul (the O'Jays, Harold Melvin, MFSB) became a direct bridge from soul into disco.
