Auktyon
Russia, 1978–now
Saint Petersburg avant-garde rock band founded by Leonid Fyodorov, one of the most adventurous acts in Russian music. Blending post-punk, free jazz, folk and theatrical performance (with the wild Oleg Garkusha on stage), they later collaborated with Western avant players like Marc Ribot and John Medeski.
MusicRoots documents 3 artists who influenced Auktyon and 0 artists Auktyon influenced in turn. Every connection cites a published source.
Who influenced Auktyon?
- Tom Waits — Leonid Fyodorov's ragged, theatrical avant-rock draws on Tom Waits, whom he cites among the records he listens to most.
- Captain Beefheart — Auktyon's angular, free-form experimentalism sits in the lineage of Captain Beefheart, another Fyodorov touchstone.
- Led Zeppelin — Led Zeppelin's heavy rock is among the old records Fyodorov cites listening to, feeding Auktyon's raw energy.
